Keeping the Physical distance
Suresh Pandian part of the FBS Bus team, Ashok Leyland, was in Jaipur over the last two weeks to expedite the orders for BSIV buses and documentation of a major order of Nasik and NMMT totaling 250-300 buses. Once the bus is out of our Alwar plant, the documentation is to be done at the Azad coach premises in Jaipur. Suresh had to be physically present in Jaipur to complete all transactional and documentation work through our body builder Azad Coaches. He completed all the preliminary transactional work before he was set to leave back from Jaipur on Saturday,21st March, 2020.
Suresh had to hand over to Paramjeet Singh, another executive of the same team, before he left. By this time the pandemic had spread rapidly in the Northern part of India, especially Rajasthan. The word doing the rounds was that daughter of one of the executives of Azad Coaches had tested positive for CoVID-19. The factory closed down immediately, the executive and all those who were on the premises were tested.
In the meantime, Sameer Singh, FBS Head, Ashok Leyland, quickly connected with Suresh and Paramjeet on a call to take stock of the situation on hand. Paramjeet who had reached Azad coaches in a private vehicle, was asked to go back without meeting anyone owing to the prevailing situation. Suresh was asked to stay on for a day until the test results were available. His return for Saturday had to be cancelled.
On Monday, the test results showed negative. Suresh heaved a sigh a relief. However, he had to return to his family in Chennai. With all the emphasis on social distancing and self-quarantine, he decided that it was best he remain isolated for a two-week period on his return. As a safety precaution measure for his family and the community, his family was instructed to move to his in-laws place before he reached Chennai.
Suresh is currently under self-quarantine.We are proud of his decision to stay alone in these difficult times.
