Road to School in Kolli Malai at Namakkal
Our Road to School initiative which expanded to Kolli Malai in July this year has been successfully reaching out to the government schools in the area with remedial education, health and wellness initiatives, breakfast for children, sports and music training.
This project in Kolli Malai is expected to benefit approximately 4200 students annually and will support 60 government schools in remote schools in the hills of Kolli Malai.
Kolli Malai is a remote mountain range at an altitude of 1300 mts spread over 280 square kilometers. The region has 60 government primary and middle schools catering mostly to tribal children. Ashok Leyland is one of the first corporate to take its CSR initiative to such remote region in Tamil Nadu state.
Our RTS program started in the year 2015 with 36 Schools in Shoolagiri and Anchetty in Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu. The success of the program has encouraged us to further expand to the districts of Tiruvallur, Namakkal and Salem in the last four years covering 714 Schools impacting around 56000 Students in Govt Primary and Upper Primary schools.
This year we plan to reach out to over 56000 students covering 714 schools in Tamil Nadu.
The “Road to School” program, helps nurture both Scholastic and Co-Scholastic development of children at Government schools in remote locations covering Education, Health, Personal Hygiene, Wellness, Nutrition Supplement, Emotional Development including Sports and Music. Ashok Leyland’s CSR initiative Road to School is present in 333 Schools across Tamil Nadu impacting around 30000 underprivileged students annually.
