Breakfast is the first meal and the most important meal of the day. It gives us all the nutrition and energy for the entire day. Thus, we at Ashok Leyland know how important it is for children like Kavi, Arun, Trisha, Rahul and many others to start their day right.

Last year, in a collaboration with Akshaya Patra, we brought warm, nutritious and delicious breakfast to over 7800 school children all over Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Today, we have extended this breakfast program to another 171 Schools thus covering 260 schools benefitting 24075 students in three blocks Shoolagiri, Kelamangalam and Thally of Hosur.

On 2nd December 2019, at an event held in Hosur, District Elementary Education Officer Ms. Jothi Chandra inaugurated the program at Denkanikotta in the presence of Mr. Venkatkumar and Mr.Nagarajan, Block Elementary Officers of Kelamangalam.

The hot and nutritious breakfast prepared at the kitchens of Akshaya Patra is transported over 2100 kms through difficult terrains and Ghats covering villages that are not easily accessible by a four-wheeler. Around 20 vehicles packed with food start at 5.15 am from Denkanikotta and reach the last school at 8.45 am thus  ensuring that every single child has his/her meal on time.

Our aim is to provide at least one healthy meal a day to the millions of children who don’t have access to proper nourishment. Happy smiles and full bellies.
