Green Brigadiers at AL work towards restoration of the Alasanatham Lake.
On 11 th January about 60 enthusiastic volunteers from our Hosur
plant joined the Green Brigade and planted 40 saplings of Bamboo,
Bougainvillea, Neem, Indian gooseberry & Guava varieties around
the Alasanatham Lake in Hosur. They were also took part in the
restoration of the Alasanatham Lake along with the team from
Environmentalist Foundation of India(E.F.I).
The four-hour
activity began with the E.F.I. team introducing themselves and their
area of work. The larger benefits of sapling plantation and lake
cleaning, human water dynamics, waste management, disadvantage of
plastics and the disposal of the same, the need and importance of
community engagement in water conservation etc. was discussed during
this event.
The key takeaway for our green brigadiers is the
exposure to the quantum of waste that is being left
behind/dumped/flushed out on our water bodies and the satisfaction
towards contributing to the environment. This is the message they took
back home.
