Ashok Leyland wins Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability
It is a matter of great pride that Ashok Leyland has been declared as the Winner of the ‘Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability’ for the year 2018. The trophy and certificate were received by Mr.P Harihar, Senior Vice President - Manufacturing & Project Planning and Dr.Vikram Batra, Vice President – Corporate Strategy & Planning , at the Institute of Directors (IoD), India's “18th Annual LONDON GLOBAL CONVENTION on CORPORATE GOVERNANCE & SUSTAINABILITY" and ‘GLOBAL BUSINESS MEET’ on 25th October in London. This award is a recognition to the robust sustainability practices and our commitment to drive social inclusion and conserve the ecological integrity of the locations we operate in. The Institute of Directors (IoD) is the UK's longest running organization for professional leaders, having been founded in 1903. IoD India was established in 1990 as an apex association of Directors reinforcing the business and industry commitment to Quality, Environment Management and Corporate Governance. We started publishing our Corporate Sustainability Report since 2017, in accordance with the internationally accepted framework specified by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. This framework sets out the principles and indicators that should be used to measure and report economic, environmental, and social performance. Our report has showcased the several initiatives we have taken in the areas of material, energy, water, waste management, carbon foot-print, community development, safety & health, employee engagement etc. We have included case studies on product innovation, road safety, solar energy, energy efficient machines, tree plantation, and various CSR projects viz, Road to School, blessing scheme, water stewardship etc.
50 innovative products and solutions displayed at Ashok Leyland’s Global Conference 2018
Ashok Leyland’s Global Conference 2018 held over April 18 -21 witnessed over 50 innovative products and solutions as innovation took the centre stage. We showcased a variety of national and international vehicles during the show. With the Defence simulator, even civilians got a chance to get behind the steering wheel of an Ashok Leyland army vehicle In the expo area, besides focus on core commercial vehicles, Ashok Leyland also displayed its futuristic aftermarket products and solutions. The centre bay of the display area showcased Ashok Leyland’s digital solutions right from iAlert and Service Mandi to E-Diagnostics and Leykart. Knowledge on Wheels and Quick Service were also demonstrated. Ashok Leyland’s network and spare-parts for better serviceability was also explained to the stakeholders. For the very first time, Ashok Leyland’s online Gift Store was presented at the venue. Conferences for M&HCV, LCV and Suppliers were held along with a meet for Sales and Works Managers, where the top dealers were awarded for their performance. The conference and the exhibits reached out to a wide variety of stakeholders right from dealers and suppliers to customers and financiers. The family members of the employees also got to witness the expo on the last day. One of the show stoppers was the Augmented Reality Photo Booth. Apart from our futuristic robot - The Partsformer - who became popular with selfies, Benny Dayal’s performance stole the limelight. Ashok Leyland’s Global Conference 2018 was filled with excitement, technology and futuristic products that paved the way for a new beginning.
Circuit-S an Electric Bus Powered by SUN Mobility’s Swappable Smart BatteryTM unveiled at India Auto Expo 2018
The global partnership between the Hinduja group flagship, Ashok Leyland and SUN Mobility, announced in July 2017, took wings at the Auto Expo 2018. This partnership aimed at creating SMART Mobility solutions for SMART cities, took shape on 7th February with Ashok Leyland unveiling its first electric bus – Circuit-S – powered by SUN Mobility’s swappable Smart BatteryTM. The two companies have come together, leveraging India’s innovation and engineering potential to develop a truly world-class electric mobility solution. The first of its kind technology demonstration, is an example of ‘Design in India’ and ‘Make in India’ capabilities of India. This world class solution is the answer to India’s rising e-mobility needs and global demand for smarter solutions for public transport.
The 2,00,000th LCV rolls out from the Hosur Plant
On 4th April, Ashok Leyland rolled out the 2,00,000th LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) from the Hosur Plant. The first LCV ‘DOST’, was commercially launched in September 2011. The 1,00,000 milestone of DOST was achieved within three years, in March 2015. The Company, since its entry in the LCV segment, has gained the trust of 2,00,000 customers whose livelihood depends on Ashok Leyland products. Over the years, the Company has gained trust of these customers by delivering on the promise of ‘Aapki Jeet, Hamari Jeet’.
