Ashok Leyland wins Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability

It is a matter of great pride that Ashok Leyland has been declared as the Winner of the ‘Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability’ for the year 2018.

The trophy and certificate were received by Mr.P Harihar, Senior Vice President – Manufacturing & Project Planning and Dr.Vikram Batra, Vice President – Corporate Strategy & Planning , at the Institute of Directors (IoD), India’s “18th Annual LONDON GLOBAL CONVENTION on CORPORATE GOVERNANCE & SUSTAINABILITY” and ‘GLOBAL BUSINESS MEET’ on 25/01/2024 October in London. This award is a recognition to the robust sustainability practices and our commitment to drive social inclusion and conserve the ecological integrity of the locations we operate in. The Institute of Directors (IoD) is the UK’s longest running organization for professional leaders, having been founded in 1903. IoD India was established in 1990 as an apex association of Directors reinforcing the business and industry commitment to Quality, Environment Management and Corporate Governance. We started publishing our Corporate Sustainability Report since 2017, in accordance with the internationally accepted framework specified by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. This framework sets out the principles and indicators that should be used to measure and report economic, environmental, and social performance. Our report has showcased the several initiatives we have taken in the areas of material, energy, water, waste management, carbon foot-print, community development, safety & health, employee engagement etc. We have included case studies on product innovation, road safety, solar energy, energy efficient machines, tree plantation, and various CSR projects viz, Road to School, blessing scheme, water stewardship etc.
